For many of us here in the northern hemisphere, that very last concern on our minds is getting prepped for next winter. We’ve already had a brutal season, so why worry about fall/winter 2014? In the world of fashion, the unveiling of a new collection has to be ahead a couple of seasons. Which is why Woolwich John & Bros. recently debuted a new line at Milano Moda Uomo for next year’s cooler seasons.
If you’re not familiar with Woolwich John Rich & Bros., the company began in 1830 after John Rich II founded the Woolwich Woolen Mills in Pennsylvania. The English immigrant not only manufactured basic wool garments himself, he also traveled to various logging camps selling his products. Over the years, Woolwich became a trusted name for lumberjacks, farmers, the military and even the people working on the Alaskan Pipeline who were in need of garments to protect them from extreme weather conditions. In 1972, the company released the original Arctic Parka, which has become one of the best parkas a man can own.
For fall/winter 2014, Woolrich John Rich & Bros. once again perfectly combines an outdoor style with a sophisticated spin by being influenced by wood and wool. The trans-seasonal collection is full of pieces that can be layered, such as knits, water-repellent nylon blazers and coats. Also included are essential “Mountain Man” items ranging from skull caps, khakis, puff jackets, and thick-soled leather boots. Earth tones, which have been combined with shades of blue, are heavily present throughout the line.
Perhaps the most interesting catch in the lookbook, however, is an early glance at the sneaker collaboration with Tuscan shoemaker Buttero. And, yes, the brand’s trademark parkas are featured as well.
The Woolwich John & Bros. Fall/Winter 2014 is essential for every man who is looking to transition into the fall and winter with a line that is sporty, versatile, and somehow, formal. Keep an eye out for more on this collection as it approaches later this year. Until then, check out the impressive lookbook below.
