This is Everyguyed’s December 2013 selection of twelve watches originally presented as options under $500. The quoted dollar amounts below are the original report’s prices, not verified offers today; the original text did not explicitly identify the currency. Some watches may now appear only through resale or older stock. This refreshed archive keeps the original selections and photographs rather than substituting newer models under familiar names.
Use the list to compare styles—field-inspired watches, colourful casual designs, minimalist dials and chronographs—then check the exact reference, condition and total purchase cost. A budget watch need not be part of a large collection: choose for the occasions and features you actually need.
Hamilton Swiss Mechanical Officer Green Canvas Strap 38mm
The original retailer link identified reference H69419363 and quoted $395. Its mechanical-watch heading conflicted with a paragraph describing quartz movement, a black dial and a date window. Those inconsistent specifications should not be relied on. Establish the exact reference and its movement from a model-specific maker document before buying; a newer Khaki Field with a different reference is not proof of this older watch’s specifications.
Jack Spade Primary Colorblock
The original selection favoured this watch for its colourblocking and casual character, quoting a price below $100. That is a historical price, not a current Jack Spade offer. If considering a second-hand example, request the reference number, a working demonstration and photographs of the strap, case and dial.
Timex Originals Classic Round
The report identified the pictured watch as the Originals Classic Round, with T2P222 in its image filename and T2P2229J in the retailer link. It highlighted a silver-tone case, tan strap and black dial, quoting $65. The original product-page path now returns 404; the old sale wording has been removed. Match the full reference rather than assuming another Timex Originals has the same specifications.
Nixon The Chronicle SS Watch
This was chosen for its clean, substantial-looking design. The original report quoted just over $200 and claimed Swiss movement, but provided no model-specific supporting document. Verify the exact watch’s movement and dimensions rather than treating that claim as established. Its old Amazon link contained encoded tracking text in the product path and is not retained as a buying destination.
Braun minimalist watch
The pictured Braun selection offers a pared-back dial and mesh-style bracelet; the original report quoted $200. It attributed this particular watch to Dieter Rams without identifying its model. Braun’s official catalog credits Rams and Dietrich Lubs in its account of the AW10, which does not establish authorship of the watch pictured here. This entry therefore no longer makes that model-specific designer claim.
Calvin Klein
The original retailer link identified K4B371B6, with a quoted price of $370. The photograph and report emphasised its fabric strap and chronograph-style dial. Treat the original movement and water-resistance claims as specifications requiring confirmation against that exact reference, particularly for a used watch whose condition may have changed.
Movado Museum Leather Watch
The Museum-style dial, signature dot and dark strap were the appeal of this minimalist selection. The original product link identified 0606502 and quoted $495. That path now returns 404, so it is not a live offer. A similar-looking Museum watch may be a different reference, size or movement; check the actual model rather than relying on the family name.
Victorinox Swiss Army Summit XLT
The original link identified the pictured Summit XLT Chrono as reference 241337. It suggested browsing other watches in the range but supplied no individual price for this entry. Keep those other watches separate in your research: a shared collection name does not mean identical movement, dimensions, condition or cost.
Larsson & Jennings Läder Black
The Läder Black was included for its restrained styling, at a reported $334. The original model URL now redirects to the brand’s homepage rather than the pictured product. That redirect does not verify a current price, stock or the original strap material. Compare the exact reference and photographs if you find an older example.
Brera Eterno Chrono
The Eterno Chrono was the list’s bolder colour choice, with a bright-orange strap and multi-register dial. The original report quoted $476 and described a 45mm case and Miyota OS20 movement. Confirm those details for the actual reference before purchasing; neither the old price nor the photograph establishes its current condition or servicing needs.
Tissot V8 Quartz Watch

The original V8 selection favoured its dashboard-inspired chronograph design and quoted $495. The image filename identifies T039.417.21.057.00. Other V8 dial, strap or movement variants should not be treated as interchangeable. Confirm the full reference, dimensions, movement and seller’s terms rather than treating the old price as a current Tissot offer.
Citizen Eco -Drive Perpetual Calendar Chronograph
The original image filename identifies BL5403-03X. The original text also mentioned AO9030-05E, AT0810-55X and BL8004-53E, but those are separate references, not alternative names for the pictured watch; no individual prices were supplied. The original BL5403-03X link now redirects to Citizen’s homepage. Research the exact reference and its manual, functions and condition rather than assuming any of these watches remains under $500.
Before buying an older watch
- Match the complete reference and ask for clear photographs of the dial, case back, strap or bracelet, and included documents.
- Confirm that the functions work and ask about service history, repairs and replacement parts. A photograph is not an authentication or condition assessment.
- Include delivery, taxes, possible service costs and strap replacement in the budget. Check currency, returns and warranty before paying.
- Do not infer present water resistance from an old rating: ask a qualified watch service provider about the actual watch’s condition and testing.
