Style Icon: Jim Morrison

Jim Morrison 1 Style Icon: Jim Morrison
Jim Morrison seems to teeter between Earth and some other worldly spiritual realm.

The Doors 1967 “Break On Through (To The Other Side)” beckoned us into his mystical world, and ever since we have been enraptured by the singer’s dark, charismatic, and raw edge.

Images of Morrison tripping out on peyote in the desert definitely come to mind when thinking of the Rock Icon, but you have to love the extremity of this unique artist. Morrison’s deep boiling passion for art and words, his romantic sensibilities, and bohemian Venice Beach lifestyle, infused its way into the style of this music legend in a wholly unique style experience.

Find Morrison in black funeral attire, or characteristic of his snake-like stage moves, head to toe in reptile skins.

It was a mix of easy breezy California cool, basement poetry readings, and an indigenous tribal edge. His lyrics are full of spiritual and metaphysical knowledge, and his music is the spell we fall under. Call his look Beatnik Shaman.

Morrison’s iconic tight low rise leather pants would come to define the artist in a way most rock stars had not been before: sexy. Sexy to women, for which he enjoyed the likes of many, and sexy to men, who wanted his rock star edge.
Jim Morrison 2 Style Icon: Jim Morrison
Morrison’s sexiness comes from his lack of self awareness. He was a man of extreme confidence in his art, but in terms of style, it is approached with a hung-over nonchalance, only a true rock star could pull off.

It’s hard to think of a band front man more genuinely cool than this guy, and with a grave that is the fourth most visited attraction in Paris, Morrison’s unique and timeless style still has the world under his spell.

Keeping it laid back, body conscious, natural, and a little rough and tumble, this electric shaman is a style icon that has reinvented the rock star aesthetic, close to what we know it today.
