How to Conceal a Double Chin

how to conceal a double chin1 How to Conceal a Double Chin

Oh that annoying double chin, that pesky folded flab that can hinder your confidence and a recognizable jawline. Although considered attractive in the eyes of the nomadic tribes in Mauritania, double chins in Western culture are akin to the beer gut, a much-maligned result of our increasingly sedentary lifestyles.

Attempting to conceal your double chin may not be as troublesome as it appears. So to buy you time before all those long hours at the gym and the salad bar pay dividends, we have a few tips to minimize the appearance of your double chin.

Grow Your Way Out

What better time to embrace your hair follicles than as a means of concealing a double chin? Trumpeted as the most economical, convenient, and immediate tool against facial flab, a neatly trimmed beard can look both professional and stylish.

Heavier men have long looked to the beard as a means of disguising weight in the face and neck, and in all honesty a beard is particularly suiting to those with a few extra lbs. An added benefit to this is the fact that you will no longer have to shave in the morning!

But to keep from looking too shabby, you will have to be diligent with trimming to keep those follicles looking fine.

The Art of Deception

Perform the illusion and make your double chin disappear with stylish low cut Tees, V necks, or a dress shirt with the top button or two undone. Your goal is to distract the eye from your neck and chin. V-neck styles lengthen the appearance of your neck and work to dissipate added weight around your face.

Try to pair your low-cuts with a great blazer, dark denim and your new found facial hair.

Photographic Fiction

One of the times when a double chin becomes most apparent is when you’re in front of the camera lens. So before your double chin gets sucked into a Facebook album for all eternity, position yourself a little above, or at eye level with the camera.

Tilt your head upwards and to the left or right – whichever you prefer – and press your tongue into the roof of your mouth as if you were swallowing. This will prevent you from giving a toothy smile, but it will contract our jaw and neck muscles, tightening up your neck.

Exercise

Exercise and a healthier diet is the only true way to shed pounds and reduce the appearance of a double chin. Thankfully, this doesn’t mean you need to become a workout fanatic, but, it does mean that you should make a concerted effort to incorporate exercise into your everyday life in small ways.

Burn extra calories you wouldn’t normally burn by parking furthest away from the library, work, shopping malls, etc.

On your lunch hour, walk to a nearby park and eat your lunch there: a healthy lunch.

Here’s a few simple things to help work off a double chin…

Chew Gum

Chew sugar-free gum to keep your jaw and facial muscles moving. Working your jaw line will prevent excess fat. The muscles in your face responsible for keeping your jaw line tight are the same muscles that you use to chew and make facial expressions.

Open Wide

Open your mouth as wide as you can, hold for 10 seconds and relax. For more immediate results, try adding resistance under your chin–like a tennis ball–or push out your jaw as if you’re trying to scoop with it and work it up and down a few times.

Summary

Voila, double chin concealed. Sometimes unattractive features are blessings in disguise. Your double chin gives you an excuse to help you become an overall appealing and healthier individual.

If you follow the basic steps above, you’re sure to shrink that double chin and trim a little bit off your waistline almost immediately!

  • Use what God gave you and grow your facial hair to help you mask the darn thing!
  • Perform the illusion of ‘sight of chest’ drawing gazes towards more attractive features.
  • Position yourself below or directly at eye level with the camera
  • Insert a few exercises into your day to day and burn extra calories.
