When Louis Vuitton Fashion Director Daniel Piette describes your brand as “possibly the most innovative and devastating retailer in the world,” you know that you’re doing something incredible – whether competing brands like it or not. Zara has been making headlines in the fashion world for several years now. Besides pushing the limits of fashion, it also became the world’s largest apparel retailer in 2012 – without major advertising campaigns mind you. Not too bad for a clothing and accessory brand that was founded in 1975 by Amancio Ortega.
If that was enough to make competing fashion retailers nervous, Zara claims that it only requires a mere two weeks to develop a new product, and get it to stores. Usually in the industry, that would take six-months to achieve. If that wasn’t enough, the Spanish brand also launches approximately 10,000 new designs annually.
Unlike many other fashion brands, Zara is in a unique position. The brand isn’t an expensive luxury label, but it does manage to create contemporary, stylish and quality items that are in the price range that most customers can feel comfortable with. All of these points can be seen with the recent Spring/Summer 2014 Man collection.
The lookbook for the most recent launch keeps things simple visually by featuring black and white images taken along an isolated coastline. However, there are colored images that focus on bold tones, like navy and grey. Heavily featured in the seasonal collection are sharp, slim tailored suits consisting of white shirts, jackets and trousers. There’s also a nod to sportswear and streetwear with the inclusion of numbered jersey tops and metallic bomber jackets. Browse through the collection below and and start planning your spring look compliments of the Zara store.
