Review: Philips ‘Click & Style’ Electric Razor

Recently, we had the opportunity to get our hands on one of the new Philips ‘Click and Style’ electric razors and take it for a test run. In recent years, the market for ‘multi-purpose’ shaving units has exploded, with countless units hitting the market from every major player in the men’s grooming market; some are undeniably better than others.

Our first impression of the Philips ‘Click and Style’ was that this was a truly versatile offering, with a traditional two-headed shaving attachment for your face, a five-length beard trimmer and a ‘Bodygroom’ shaving head all included with the unit. Changing from one attachment to the next is done with a simple click, with each shaving head locking firmly into place, ready for use.

The power unit is elegantly styled in black and red, with a rubberized/plasticized matte finish that looks as good as it feels in one’s hand. As a bonus, the unit is completely waterproof, so shaving with your favorite cream in the shower is fair game. Charging times are competitive, with a one hour charge providing 40 mins of cordless use and a handy ten-minute ‘quick charge’ option providing ten-minutes of cordless use for those on the go. One of our favorite features was the fact that the charging cord is a compact unit, so taking the Click and Style on the road with you doesn’t mean you’ll fill your dopp kit.

The shave the Philips ‘Click and Style’ gives is one of the best we’ve experienced out of a cordless unit, with the traditional two-headed attachment providing a close, clean result without that typical electric-burn sensation familiar to units like this. As mentioned earlier, the waterproof system means that you can have a seriously luxurious wet-shave experience in the shower with your favorite shave cream, which was far and away our favorite feature.

The five-length beard trimmer provides the ability to really shape and sculpt facial hair to your preference, and the high-quality adjustable attachment is easy to use and to change. With the winter months coming soon, this is a great tool to keep a cold-weather beard in check.

Overall we loved the Philips ‘Click and Style’, and think it provides an excellent value for all the features you get right out of the box. A base model retails for $69.99, with a high-end model coming in at a still reasonable $89.99 price point. Hitting stores this month, you’ll be able to pick one up at retailers like Best Buy, Walmart, Amazon and Personal Edge. If you’re in the market for a versatile unit at a reasonable price, the Philips ‘Click and Style’ is a standout in the cordless market.
