Recently, the EveryGuyed team was given the chance to review the new Acer Iconia A1-840 8″ tablet. Like a lot of people, we have a certain affinity for a certain fruit-branded tech company, but we were willing to give this new product from Acer a fair shake.
Our first impression? Serious quality right out of the box. The tablet is beautifully finished with a matte metallic casing and a stunning screen. At 8″, this full HD screen was perfect for watching our favorite media and even made emails seem like less of a chore. Coated with an anti-fingerprint technology, we found we still had to wipe it clean from time to time, but overall there was a noticeable difference.
Running on Android KitKat via an Intel Quad Core CPU, the Acer A1-840 is lightning fast and super intuitive, with an interface that’s both easy to use and fully customizable with ease. Other features include dual-facing cameras (the quality left a little to be desired, but mostly due to light sensitivity), dual speakers and a MicroSD slot that allows you to expand the stock memory an added 32GB’s should the need arise.
Overall, this Acer Iconia tablet really impressed us with unmatched fit and finish. In terms of performance it was lightning fast and ran even when we purposefully tried to overload it with tasks.
