In anticipation of this year’s Baselworld watch conference, Swiss watchmaker Omega unveil the highly anticipated Speedmaster Mark II timepiece. A reintroduction of the coveted and collective original, released in 1969, this “Mark II” edition features modern elements like an automatic movement and improved visibility of the tachymetric scale. Inside the 2014 Omega Speedmaster Mark II watches are Omega Calibre 3330 automatic movements. The movements include both Omega Co-Axial escapements as well as silicon balance springs. The chronograph is column-wheel based and the movement has been certified as a COSC Chronometer. Expected to be priced at $6250 USD, it’s a considerable investment, but 50 years after the original Speedmaster, still definitely a wise one.
